FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW CD-R DIAGNOSTIC ENABLES USERS TO RECOVER LOST DATA
Lincolnshire, IL—September 14, 2001--CD-ROM Productions (http://www.InfinaDyne.com) announces the release of the new v. 1.6 of CD-R Diagnostic, an affordable, efficient program that enables users of both CD-R and CD-RW recorders to recover valuable data that they are having trouble accessing. Unlike various programs for repairing CDs, CD-R Diagnostic cannot alter the CD itself--something that could result in a loss of data. And CD-R Diagnostic is not only useful for recovering data from a problematic disc--it can also be used to make certain that a recording is free of errors and that is completely readable on a variety of CD-ROM drives.
DATA PROTECTED
"Competing products attempt to repair a damaged disc for the user,” explains Paul Crowley, president/owner of CD-ROM Productions. “This involves writing to the disc, which can, in some cases, make critical data permanently irretrievable. CD-R Diagnostic does not write at all; therefore, it cannot change or corrupt the data. While other products are more focused on repairing the disc so that it can be used to store additional data, our view is that the existing data is more important than being able to use the media further. After CD-R Diagnostic has rescued the data, v. 1.6’s new drag-and-drop feature makes it easy to move the data to a new media where it will be safe.”
DECREASES EXPENSES CONSIDERABLY
“For businesses that are hoping to recover data from a damaged CD, data recovery services can be a costly option,” Crowley asserts. “Most of the services that I have had dealings with--some of which are among our customers--charge between $300 and $1200 per disc for data recovery, depending on the amount of time required. CD R Diagnostic™ 1.6 makes an attractive and affordable alternative to data recovery services.”
ERROR CHECK FEATURE
Thanks to CD-R Diagnostic’s™ special error check feature, users can ascertain that a CD is free of recording errors and that it is completely readable. Crowley notes: “CD-R Diagnostic’s™ error check feature can be used to analyze a CD and determine how well it was recorded and how readable it is likely to be on other CD-ROM drives. After a disc passes this test, a user can send a recorded CD to a customer or client and be confident that it will be readable.”
HISTORY
Founded in Buffalo Grove, Illinois in 1995, CD-ROM Productions is an early phase
company specializing in CD-related services. Initially the company focused on creating CD-R media, but in late 1997, Crowley and his colleagues saw that CD recorders were becoming increasingly affordable and shifted their efforts to developing software. The first version of CD-R Diagnostic™ was introduced in early 1998. Other released products include:§ CD-R Verifier: a high-speed verification tool comparing the CD-R contents with the master.
§ CD-R Inspector: a tool for intensive analysis and extraction of data from CD-R and CD-RW media. Building upon the data recovery technology in CD-R Diagnostic™, CD-R Inspector adds detailed information displays and an enhanced ability to search the media at several levels. This product is specifically tailored for users requiring more detailed information than CD-R Diagnostic™ provides, as well as law enforcement professionals requiring tools for extracting evidence from CD media.
§ CD-R
Suite is the bundled package of CD-R Diagnostic™ and CD-R
Verifier, providing premium data recovery and verification at a
value-added price.
Crowley has been in the high-tech field for 25
years, and his experience ranges from working as a consultant for
Bell Laboratories to authoring such games as James Bond, Super Cobra
(an Atari 2600 game), Up N' Down and Gyruss.
REQUIREMENTS and COMPATIBILITY
CD-R Diagnostic is compatible with all of the following platforms: Windows 95 and 98, v. 4.0 or greater of Windows NT and Microsoft’s forthcoming Windows 2000--and it may also become Macintosh compatible this year.
Users will need at least 4 MB of RAM and several hundred MB of free hard drive space to recover data from a problematic disc.
